The event, themed ‘Seasoning of Becoming’, was more than just a fashion statement – it embodied female solidarity, heritage, and the pursuit of purpose. Jo-Anne's collection, inspired by her personal journey, showcased statement hair clips, elegant scarves, and stylish apparel that celebrated African culture.
The runway came to life with vibrant colours and textures, as models confidently strutted down the catwalk, showcasing Jo-Anne's designs. The audience went into a frenzy cheering on the talented designer and her team.
Jo-Anne's journey, marked by perseverance and faith, is a testament to her unwavering dedication. Balancing studies and entrepreneurship, she secured funding after three years of relentless pursuit. Her philosophy “when God gives you something, run with it,” fuels her unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern flair.
The fashion show was a celebration of women empowering women, with mentors, designers and supporters gathering to uplift Jo-Anne. Her 21-day fast before the event deepened her commitment to her calling, and she shared, “When I decided to place both feet with Jesus, my path began to unfold.”
Now, Jo-Anne is paying it forward with the Women in Business Workshop in May, a “for women, by women” experience focusing on building and growing a brand through social media, basic business knowledge such as registration, banking and structure, creating opportunities for collaboration and networking and encouraging confidence, growth, and self-belief.
“My vision is to uplift and empower women, connecting them to opportunities and creating a platform for growth,” Jo-Anne says. With her inspiring story and passion or empowerment, she’s a true role model for aspiring designers and entrepreneurs.
