What is ELCSASO

ELCSASO (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa Student Organisation) is a religious structure within Nelson Mandela University. We are a direct affiliate of ELCSA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa) under the Moriah Circuit.

We are committed to :

  • Winning others for Christ.
  • Helping, co-ordinating, inspiring, leading and directing our Nelson Mandela University members.
  • Encouraging our fellow students to serve God effectively.
  • Sharing experiences and reflecting deeply upon the Christian faith in relation to daily life.
  • Developing each other in body, mind, and spirit.
  • Striving for values of justice, peace, freedom and righteousness as embodied in the Word of God.
  • Developing a spirit of ecumenism if such does not infringe upon the teachings of ELCSA.
  • Meeting at least once a week to pray and to help one another with the Word of God.  

 

What kind of activities does ELCSASO engage in?

There are several activities that we as ELCSASO engage in but just to list a few

  • Weekly prayer meeting and bible study
  • Choir practise
  • Sunday church services at local church and on campus
  • Character development workshops
  • Exam prayers and revivals
  • Social functions
  • Church wide revival and conference with other tertiary institutions
