Welcome to the world of student activities. Being at the University is probably the best opportunity you will have to participate in a wide range of activities. Join one of our student societies and enjoy exciting new experiences, build lifelong friendships and develop new skills outside the lecture room.

With over 80 student societies, we have something for everyone, ranging from academic, religious, developmental, arts and culture and student political organisations. If the society or organisation you’re looking for doesn’t exist yet, there’s another opportunity for you to start your own group! Just download the application for a proposed society form!

Joining a society/ organisation has many benefits including:

  • Networking with staff and students and other likeminded people
  • Pursuing your passion
  • Learning  to work effectively with others in a team
  • Becoming actively involved in co-curricular activities.
  • Gaining meaningful life experiences and skills

WHY SHOULD I JOIN A SOCIETY?

Being a part of other activities at the University is valuable for your own development and your future. Employers look for more than just good grades but seek people with initiative and confidence. They look for people who work well with others, have been responsible and involved in student societies and who have taken up challenges other than just in the classroom.

HOW DO I JOIN A SOCIETY?

Deciding on which society to join can be a little daunting but also very exciting. Membership forms are available on the top right hand corner of this webpage. You are most welcome to visit our offices and equire about societies and we will inform you of the contact persons for each society. By participating in the activities and projects organised by the various societies, you will gain leadership, communication and social skills.

Below is a list of societies as well as the Student Development Officers who manage them.
