Background

Our alumni are very important stakeholders of Nelson Mandela University. To ensure there is an ongoing relationship from a student to graduate level, the Student Alumni Society (SAS) was established in 2006.  The aim is to create awareness of the alumni role at the University through various projects and activities.  SAS is a student development society residing under the management of the Alumni Relations Directorate. SAS members are pre-alumni and also affiliated to the Student Governance and Development Department.

Vision

To create a society where every student is a member of SAS, fostering loyalty towards a lifetime connection with Nelson Mandela University.

Mission

Building relationships with the student community through various programmes. Encouraging participation which enhances their development, providing valuable activity opportunities, offer interactive networking platforms and cultivating interest on the value and role of being a Mandela Graduate.

Aim

  • Our society seeks to bridge the gap between students and alumnus, as well as providing insight into life after graduation. We will provide a platform that facilitates interaction between our prestigious University Alumni and current University students;
  • This relationship is mutually beneficial, as the opportunities provided from our University may position you for success and in turn the positive reflection may pave the way for future alumni, enhancing your personal investment in the University.
  • The focus is to foster loyalty towards the University and build relationships with students while they are still on campus. Students will be equipped with various experience, knowledge and tools needed to navigate their desired paths.
